Lecture with NAVA Community
October 24, 2024
On October 22, 2024, we were honored to give a lecture to the National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA) community, where we shared insights on the evolution of voice AI technology and discussed how emerging tools can empower and protect voice actors in this rapidly changing landscape.
We began this lecture with a brief overview of the Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology development over the last three decades. We delved into the rapid evolution of core technologies, unveiling how AI models have been trained to achieve ever-greater realism and fidelity in synthesized voices. We also explored the diverse applications of TTS systems. In the first section, we highlighted the shifting dynamics of AI development, where the growing dominance of tech giants has not only accelerated innovation but also reshaped the landscape of collaboration and competition in the field.
Next, we examined the challenges and risks associated with AI-generated voices. Key concerns such as privacy breaches, security vulnerabilities, and ethical implications took center stage. With voice AI now able to replicate human voices with astonishing accuracy, we underscored the critical need for protective measures like watermarking and encryption to counteract potential misuse. These technologies are essential to mitigating risks and preserving trust in voice-driven applications as the capabilities of AI continue to evolve.
We also introduced our own groundbreaking contributions to addressing these risks. We showcased technologies like real-time Human vs. AI Voice Detection and Anti-AI Encryption, designed to help voice actors protect their voices from unauthorized use and cloning. This segment resonated strongly with the audience, particularly voice actors, who engaged in a lively Q&A session filled with thoughtful and enthusiastic questions about safeguarding their creative work.
We were delighted by the positive response from the community. Many participants expressed their interest in our voice protection solutions, and some voice actors have since joined our beta testing program, helping us refine and improve our offerings. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to NAVA for hosting this event and to the voice actor community for their openness, curiosity, and invaluable support. Your engagement underscores the importance of collaboration in advancing technologies that serve and protect the unique artistry of voice actors. We are deeply committed to developing tools that empower voice actors to safeguard their voice timbre and creative work. Together, we aim to build innovative, ethical, and effective solutions that not only protect voices but also foster trust in the evolving landscape of voice AI.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this meaningful event. We look forward to continuing the conversation and shaping the future of voice AI—together.
